Wipe down the drum and door seals with a mixture of vinegar and water. This helps prevent soap residue, mold, and mildew build-up, which can cause odors and affect the machine’s performance. A good practice to prevent mold build up in the gasket is to wipe the gasket to remove excess water and leave the door open after every cycle to let it dry.
Examine the water supply hoses for any signs of wear, such as cracks or bulging. Damaged hoses increase the risk of leaks or even flooding, which can result in costly water damage if left unchecked. We highly recommend to install stainless steel hoses, as rubber hoses could burst suddenly and cause water damage. We also recommend to secure the drain hose using clamps or zip ties.
Clean out the filter every month or if you use the washer daily, every week. This improves water drainage, prevents clogs, and ensures that the machine operates efficiently, reducing wear on the motor. Even though the filter will prevent debries to get into the drain pump, we recommend to remove everything from your pants before washing them. Items such as paper clips, screws, coins, etc… can damage the pump and cause repairs that could be easily avoided.
Add 2 cups of white vinegar directly into the drum and run a high-temperature cycle. This process removes soap buildup, freshens the machine, and helps eliminate lingering odors. You can also use commercial ready cleaners such as Affresh washer cleaner.
An uneven washing machine can cause excessive vibrations, which leads to noise and damage to the internal components. Use a level tool to make sure the washer is sitting evenly and adjust the legs if necessary.
